Heading North/ South on the A1, follow A69 signposted Hexham & Carlisle. Exit the A69 at Heddon on the Wall and pick up the B6318, just before the Three Tuns public house, heading west towards Chollerford. Continue on the B6318 for seven miles, the turning for Matfen is on the right. From the A69 west take the A68 North, join the B6318.
