Green Key England presents international environmental award to Novotel Leicester. We join over 4,000 establishments across the globe who have also met the stringent criteria of the award and continue to maintain our certificate, now in to our second year.
’James Conaghan, General Manager of Novotel Leicester, said’’Green Key is one of the leading ecolabels recognised by Google Travel as part of their recently announced ‘Sustainability Labelling’ within their Google powered booking engine. Google states in their guidance that “Hotels with an “eco-certified” label which have been certified by an accredited independent organization for meeting certain standards. You’ll find an “eco-certified” label near their name, and you can find out more about their sustainability practices on their detail page.” In England, the scheme is managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy and Chief Executive Allison Ogden-Newton said: “We are delighted to award Novotel Leicester the Green Key certification. This award proves that luxury and sustainability can go hand in hand, meaning travellers do not have to compromise in order to curb their carbon impact.”The Green Key programme not only serves to recognise the specific achievements of each establishment but also to create a network within the industry for the sharing of innovation and best practice. Novotel Leicester attended the Leicestershire Tourism awards on the 03rd December 2025, where the very best of Leicestershire’s Tourism businesses gathered for the Leicestershire Tourism and Hospitality Awards. A great night was had at the Athena Leicester and Novotel Leicester were thrilled to be awarded winners of the "Business Hotel Of The Year" Award along with also being awarded winners of the "Accessible And Inclusive Tourism Award" The success didn’t stop their as the Hotel also received a Highly commended award in the "Large Hotel Of The Year Award". The team were over the moon to end the year on such a high. The Leicestershire Tourism and Hospitality Awards are run by LPL and serve as the regional heats for the national VisitEngland awards.
