Emirates Old Trafford to host TheStadiumBusiness Design and Development Summit 2018

Emirates Old Trafford, home of Lancashire County Cricket Club, is delighted to announce that it has been appointed as the destination and host for TheStadiumBusiness Summit 2018 - The world’s leading gathering of stadium, arena and sports venue business leaders. Taking place here at Emirates Old Trafford on the 12-13 June 2018, the prestigious event, owned by Xperiology, will deliver a conference, exhibition, stadium tours, networking events and TheStadiumBusiness Awards, to a gathering of many of the sports and entertainment sector’s most respected stadium and events professionals. One Love Manchester Benefit Concert wins at Stadium Business Awards

The One Love Manchester concert, and the Emirates Old Trafford and Lancashire County Cricket Club team, were recognised at the prestigious global 2017 Stadium Business Awards, which were held at Croke Park on Thursday 22 June. The Club picked up the Judges’ Choice Award for the delivery of the recent One Love Manchester benefit concert at Emirates Old Trafford on Sunday 4 June, alongside Manchester United Football Club at Old Trafford for their continued help and assistance. The concert, which was held in memory of those affected by the attack in Manchester on Monday 22 May, raised more than £2.5 million and was viewed by over 14.5 million people on BBC Television, was staged at Emirates Old Trafford, with just over a week’s notice. Lancashire County Cricket Club’s CEO, Daniel Gidney, said: “This award is dedicated to everyone associated with the event from the artists, to the organisers, through to the people that attended on Sunday 4 July.

Hilton Garden Inn Team Receives a Boost

The Hilton Garden Inn Emirates Old Trafford has appointed Sorana Cernea as Front Office Manager and Shani Grisdale as Groups Coordinator. The growing team follows the previous appointment of Michael Hewson as General Manager late in 2016, and Sales Manager Janice Barrington-Wood earlier this year. Sorana and Shani bring with them vast experience of working within the international hotel industry. Sorana began her career at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Romania, and has since worked as Office Manager with Wyndham Days Inn & Suites in California, and as a Supervisor at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Manchester City Centre. Similarly Shani has amassed a broad experience following three years in Italy at IC Bellagio, before joining the pre-opening Team at Hotel Football in 2014 as Groups and Reservations agent. Michael Hewson, General Manager of the Hilton Garden Inn Emirates Old Trafford, said: “Having Sorana and Shani join us is fantastic, and they have both made an immediate impact.”

Manchester charity Prevent Breast Cancer raised an impressive £79,000 at its annual ball on the 25 March.

The charity transformed The Point at Emirate at Old Trafford into an extravagant vintage circus, complete with acrobats, jugglers and a bearded lady, with guests being treated to show-stopping performances as they dined, and Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor, who plays Sally Metcalfe in the soap, was in attendance, while actor Sacha Dhawan was also among the guests. Sally Dynevor, who has supported the charity for over 10 years, said: “Every year, I’m overwhelmed by the amount of love and support there is out there for this very special charity. We’re into our next chapter now and it’s exciting to watch it develop and grow even more.
