The Hospitality Awards Season is on!
It’s time to celebrate! The hospitality awards season is in full swing, with the AA awards having taken place on Monday. Renowned as one of the most prestigious award events around, the AA Awards recognize hospitality industry processionals that show a track record of success and high-performance over the past year.
Although officially formed in 2007, the AA has been recognising talent within the hospitality industry for over 100 years. Known to many as a motoring organisation, the AA actually offers services and holds interest in a number of different industries outside of automobiles. In 1908, 3 years after inception, the AA started to include a list of one thousand leading hotels in its member’s handbook.
Find a Hotel
This was due to a number of road-user’s finding it difficult to locate high-quality hospitality establishments whilst travelling, so the AA used its expert road and location knowledge to solve the problem many drivers were having. Soon after, in 1912, star-rating of hotels were introduced to the handbook, which saw the AA start to critic hotels for the first time.
After multiple revisions and a number of different formats, 1992 was the year that the AA’s “Hotel of the Year” award was introduced, which showcased the best of the best in the hospitality industry. The awards have since been transformed into a glamorous black-tie event with thirteen individual awards on offer, as listed below;
- Lifetime Achievement Award
